Testimonials
Nancy is a seasoned professional with decades of experience in myofunctional therapy. Her approach surpasses that of the typical speech pathologist, because she looks diligently into structural and physiological aspects that impact functions such as speech, breathing, chewing, and swallowing.
She constantly observed and adapted her techniques to meet my child's needs, including helping them pronounce the challenging 'R' sound for the first time. Nancy's dedication to her work, delightful humor and approachable demeanor made us trust and love her as a provider. We'll miss her now that she's relocated, but we're so grateful to have crossed paths!

I have worked as an orthodontist sharing patients with Nancy for over 20 years. Not only has she helped my patients learn to train habits, but she has also taught me so many things about myofunctional therapy. It is a joy to work with her and make people smile even better.

I started seeing Nancy when my son was 5 years old. He was severely tongue tied and had very low mobility of his tongue. He couldn't move his tongue upwards and to the right side. We had feeding and speech issues due to this. She guided us through the process of having the tongue tie release done and how to properly start orthodontic treatment on him. She was creative in her methods which kept it interesting and very beneficial for my son. He is now 8 years old, and eats like a champ and I can understand him which is wonderful.

Nancy has a depth of knowledge in the field of speech language pathology and oromyofunctional therapy that is very impressive and has been key in collaborative care with my patients and myself personally. I know that when I send a patient to Nancy they will be well educated after their consult and they will also be thoroughly assessed. Although she may be new to the current community she is in, she was a very well respected and established provider for our area even before I met her. She has strong ethics, and seeks to stay current in best practices. She is a great advocate for her patients and her profession. I am grateful to have worked very closely with Nancy.

I have had the pleasure of working in collaboration with Nancy over the past 20+ years. In addition to her depth of knowledge in myofunctional therapy as well as her clinical experience, what really sets her apart from others is her ability to connect with the patient and give clear and detailed instructions. Compliance is essential for success, and I appreciate Nancy’s ability to compassionately guide and encourage our mutual patients.

Our son has been a patient of Nancy's for 6 years, since he was 4 years old. She was the first person to identify Leo as likely having sleep apnea. Many other practitioners did not suspect it! She works extremely well with children when they are at an age when it’s difficult to sit for any period of time (especially with severe sleep apnea). We’d highly recommend Dr. Magar to any family considering care for their child.

I am incredibly grateful for exceptional care by Nancy. From the start, her expertise and compassionate approach made a significant difference. As a pediatric dentist, I have found Nancy to be an invaluable resource for my patients. Her ability to tailor personalized therapy plans and her dedication to her work have consistently led to outstanding results. Trusting her completely, I chose Nancy to work with my daughter for speech therapy. The improvements in my daughter's speech have been remarkable, significantly boosting her daily interactions.
Each session was engaging and enjoyable, turning what could have been a challenging experience into something my daughter looked forward to. Nancy's unwavering patience, kindness, and commitment to her clients are truly commendable. She provided us with valuable resources and exercises to practice at home, always offering support and encouragement every step of the way. Her exceptional skills and genuine care have made all the difference in my daughter's progress. I highly recommend Nancy for her outstanding service and dedication. She is a true professional and a gem in her field, making a positive impact on all her clients.

In the world of myofunctional speech pathology, Nancy Magar is a guru and truly a one-of-a-kind practitioner. Her unique method of retraining the tongue and strengthening specific muscles in the mouth has worked wonders on both of my kids. She corrects the root of the problem for lifelong success. Prior to discovering Nancy, my daughter went to speech therapists and had very little improvement. After her first session with Nancy, we had a progressive plan for exactly how to achieve the outcome we wanted, and to make it stick. Nancy has so much education and experience that if a specific strategy isn’t working or is too advanced, she can quickly pivot to an alternative technique to accomplish the goal. Not to mention she is great with kids, as both of mine find all the games to be fun.
I am grateful for our experience with Nancy, as my daughter now has perfectly clear speech, and my son is making great strides as one of her clients. Nancy is the only person I trust with a proven track record to get the results we want the first time, which is why even though she has relocated to Florida we maintain zoom sessions from Washington. Nancy Magar is hands down the best out there!

Choosing a capable therapist is a pivotal decision, one that requires discernment and confidence. From my experience as a release provider, I can unequivocally affirm that Nancy Magar is the epitome of professionalism, empathy, and expertise in the field of speech and language sciences including those services that extend into orofacial myofunctional therapy.
Beyond her remarkable work with individual clients, Nancy also stands out for her collaborative approach in working with providers alike. Her dedication to fostering understanding and healing extends beyond the confines of traditional therapy sessions, as she actively engages with professionals in the field to promote best practices and enhance the quality of care provided. It is without doubt that some of our best patient outcomes were a direct result of the exceptional preparation and communication carried out from the beginning of treatment through the finish line.

I have seen first-hand Nancy's unique ability to connect with the children she works with and identify the way in which they will learn and progress most effectively. My son would look forward to sessions and there's no doubt he was positively impacted by her warm and fun personality. She educated us on tongue placement, mechanics while making sounds and how to do the exercises. She explained his challenges and the path to resolving them. We are so thankful for our time with Nancy!

I have worked with Nancy since I began my pediatric dental practice 19 years ago. She was our trusted resource for helping children overcome nonnutritive habits such as thumb sucking and tongue thrust. As our practice evolved and we incorporated laser frenectomies in older children who had significant compromises in speech, breathing, sleep, and swallowing functions due to ankyloglossia, she was extremely helpful and professional in offering her experience in working with this age group. We could see wonderful results in the patients that we collaborated with together, and the families were very appreciative of the communication and team effort between us, the primary dental provider, and Nancy, the myofunctional specialist.

I have had two children work with Ms. Nancy throughout the past 6 years. Her innovative and patient approach has helped both of my children navigate their severe tongue thrusts and complicated motor planning deficits. Nancy thinks outside the box and found alternative approaches when the traditional approach didn't work for my daughter's complicated case. I also appreciated Nancy's willingness to collaborate with our dentist and orthodontists. Nancy is the best in her field and we are grateful to have worked with her!

Our son was born with a slight tongue tie impairment (shortened lingual frenum). This did not present a latching issue during infancy and was not generally observable.
His speech was slightly impaired by a pattern using a lateral 'S' - speaking 'S' sounds out the side of his mouth rather than using the tongue near the 'spot'.
At age 11, the tongue tie impairment was rediscovered during a checkup with his pediatric dentist. The pediatric dentist recommended myofunctional treatment prior to a Frenotomy.
Nancy is an amazing myofunctional and speech therapist who has helped our son achieve remarkable results. She is knowledgeable, patient, and caring, and she tailored the therapy to his specific needs and goals. She taught him exercises and techniques that improved his breathing, tongue posture, swallowing, and articulation, and he enjoyed working with her every session. Nancy also provided us with clear instructions and feedback on how to support his progress at home. We are very impressed with the quality and effectiveness of her service, and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional and experienced myofunctional and/or speech therapist.
